I give thanks before You

מֶלֶךְ חַי וְקַיָּם

Shehechezarta bi nishmati bechemlah

For returning my soul within me with compassion

שֶׁהֶחֱזַרְתָּ בִּי נִשְׁמָתִי בְּחֶמְלָה

Great is Your faithfulness

רַבָּה אֱמוּנָתֶךָ

Elohay Neshama

Elohai, Neshamah shenatata bi, Tehorah hi

My God, The soul You placed within me is pure

אֱלֹהַי נְשָׁמָה שֶׁנָּתַתָּ בִּי טְהוֹרָה הִיא

Kol zeman shehaneshamah bekirbi Modeh ani lefanecha

As long as the soul is within me I give thanks before You

כָּל זְמַן שֶׁהַנְּשָׁמָה בְּקִרְבִּי מוֹדֶה אֲנִי לְפָנֶיךָ

Adonai, Elohai ve'Elohei avotai

Lord, My God and God of my ancestors

אֲדֹנָי, אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתַי

Master of all deeds, Lord of all souls

רִבּוֹן כָּל הַמַּעֲשִׂים, אֲדוֹן כָּל הַנְּשָׁמוֹת

Enlighten our eyes with Your Torah

וְהָאֵר עֵינֵינוּ בְּתוֹרָתֶךָ

Attach our hearts to Your commandments

וְדַבֵּק לִבֵּנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתֶיךָ

Veyached levaveinu le'ahavah ule'yirah et Shemecha

Unite our hearts to love and revere Your Name

וְיַחֵד לְבָבֵנוּ לְאַהֲבָה וּלְיִרְאָה אֶת שְׁמֶךָ

Velo nivosh velo nikaleim

May we not be shamed nor humiliated

וְלֹא נֵבוֹשׁ וְלֹא נִכָּלֵם

Velo nikashel le'olam va'ed

And may we never stumble forevermore

וְלֹא נִכָּשֵׁל לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד

Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One

Blessed is the Name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever

וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּכׇל־לְבָבְךָ וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁךָ וּבְכׇל־מְאֹדֶךָ׃ וְהָיוּ הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם עַל־לְבָבֶךָ׃ וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְדִבַּרְתָּ בָּם בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶךָ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּרֶךְ וּבְשׇׁכְבְּךָ וּבְקוּמֶךָ׃ וּקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאוֹת עַל־יָדֶךָ וְהָיוּ לְטֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ׃ וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל־מְזֻזוֹת בֵּיתֶךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ׃

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good

הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה כִּי טוֹב

Ki le'olam chasdo

For His kindness endures forever
